A brief outline of the Nikon F2SB Photomic manual focus SLR film camera

This page is dedicated to the superb Nikon F2SB Photomic camera produced by Nikon, this was a F2 body fitted with the DP-3 viewfinder fitted. The DP-3 viewfinder was introduced to replace the existing DP-2 viewfinder, it addressed the previous viewfinder's high power consumption which had proved an annoyance and also improved the accuracy and response of the exposure meter  by replacing the CdS sensor with a superior silicone diode sensor.

The Nikon F2SB Photomic's DP-3 viewfinder retained the 60/40 centre weighed metering system used by it's predecessor but aded a LED indicator to the top of the prism housing to indicate correct exposure when the photographer was unable to access the eyepiece for any reason.

The Nikon F2SB Photomic retained compatibility with the optional DS-1 and DS-2 shutter speed priority automatic exposure units as had been supported on the DP-2 viewfinder equipped Nikon F2S Photomic.
